Well Rounded

At Wantirna Primary School, we teach the Victorian Curriculum which is designed to provide a comprehensive and well-rounded education for students in their formative years. This framework emphasises the development of key knowledge, skills, and capabilities across various learning areas.

At Wantirna Primary School students in the early years focus on foundational skills in literacy and numeracy, laying the groundwork for future academic success. The curriculum also includes subjects such as English, mathematics, science, humanities, the arts, and health and physical education. We encourage critical thinking and creativity from our students and there is an emphasis on communication skills.
 

We believe that learning about different cultures helps every student understand and connect with the world around them. We include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, Asia and Australia's relationship with Asia, and sustainability across all subjects.

Cultural Studies helps students build respect for different cultures and develop strong social skills. While students learn about cultures in all their subjects, we focus on this especially during wellbeing and social-emotional learning.

Assessment practices are provided to get a fair and comprehensive evaluation of students' progress.
