Every child deserves to feel safe, happy and included at Wantirna Primary School. We do not accept bullying behaviour and work proactively to help students build positive friendships and respectful relationships.
We teach students that bullying is when someone hurts another person on purpose, repeatedly and uses power over them. We also help students understand the difference between bullying, friendship problems and unkind behaviour. Students are encouraged to speak to a trusted adult if they feel worried or unsafe.
We support bullying prevention through:
- School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)
- Respectful Relationships lessons
- social and emotional learning programs such as Open Parachute
- restorative conversations to repair friendships
When concerns are raised, we listen carefully, support the students involved and work closely with families to ensure every child feels they belong.
