Wantirna Primary School provides an engaging and stimulating learning environment where students are challenged and supported to achieve their full potential. Our community proudly demonstrates our CARE values of Compassion, Achievement, Respect and Engagement. We provide a high quality, comprehensive educational program which encourages a culture of social responsibility, resilience and tolerance. Through exemplary teaching practice, our school supports the development of the knowledge, skills and attitudes for success in our global community. Our teachers work collaboratively and are passionate about providing the very best learning environment for each and every student.
Exciting specialist programs include Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Physical Education, with Languages (Spanish) being taught by the classroom teachers. Wantirna Primary School follows the Victorian Curriculum and has implemented an Inquiry Approach across the school, with a strong emphasis on Science and the integration of our Vegetable Garden into the teaching and learning program. We have 5 multi-age classes, except for Foundation with a Principal, 7 teaching staff, 2 Education Support Staff and a Business Manager. We have an exceptional OSHC program which is well regarded and supported by School Council.
Students are supported to take responsibility for their own behaviour with the development of the class agreements to ensure their ownership of contributing to a safe, caring and supportive learning environment. Student voice is acknowledged and celebrated with the strong leadership programs offered throughout the school. Behaviour management strategies use restorative practices and parents and caregivers are closely involved with this process. Wantirna Primary School is committed to regular communication which is consistent and responsive to the needs of our community.
FOUNDATION 2019 - ENROL NOW
Do you have a child commencing Foundation in 2019?
Starting school is an exciting time. In the year prior to starting school Wantirna Primary offers a full Transition program to provide Pre-schoolers with a positive introduction to school experiences. Transition to school for new Foundation students is supported by the whole school community with our Foundation Transition coordinator working closely with kindergartens to ensure a smooth transition into primary school.
A buddy system is in place to assist the new Foundations to settle into the school routine in a caring and supportive way. The children are introduced to their Year 5 buddies during transition activities in Term 4. The buddies are there to support the Foundation students transition to school by finding friends to play with and generally providing support. They continue this friendship throughout the year and participate in a number of designated 'buddy' activities.
